Holiday Music

Task 2: Do your have any traditions in your family / amongst your friends centered around music this time of year? Carol singing? Concerts? Performances?

Not so much a family tradition per se, but an indelible part of the Christmas services of the church where we used to go when I was growing up were some of J.S. Bach’s Christmas cantatas, performed by the church’s choir and brass ensemble. There’s nothing that can replace the experience of hearing the full choir and brass players live, in a large church and the acoustic setting it provides, but by way of a tiny impression here’s Händel’s Tochter Zion, which their current members recorded from home (essentially) for this year’s Advent:
