In Ireland, Epiphany is also sometimes called “Nollaig na mBean” or Women’s Christmas. Traditionally the women get the day off and men do the housework and cooking! It is becoming more popular and many Irish women now get together on the Sunday nearest Epiphany and have tea and cakes. Not my book for this square (I already read that), but one of the Christmas stories I’m still planning to get to this year … What a pity Terrence Hardiman isn’t narrating more of these.
Though, every time I dip my hand into the tin to take out one of those truffles, I have mental associations of this …
